Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the performance of high-frequency ultrasound in Achilles tendon rupture and the passive motion state of the broken end.

Methods

A total of 50 patients with closed Achilles tendon rupture admitted to the Fifth People′s Hospital of Foshan from January 2019 to January 2020 were selected as the research objects. All patients were examined by ALOKA F15 color Doppler ultrasound, the manifestations of Achilles tendon rupture in high-frequency ultrasound were analyzed, and the passive motion of Achilles tendon broken end was dynamically observed.

Results

Of the 50 patients, 40 had complete rupture and 10 had partial rupture of the Achilles tendon, and the results were consistent with the MRI and surgical diagnosis.Four weeks after Achilles tendon surgery was the initial stage of repair. The blood flow signal of Achilles tendon was rich, the blood vessel distribution was more, the blood flow velocity in systolic period was faster, and the resistance index was higher than that before surgery, but the Achilles tendon injury had not been recovered yet. After 6-8 weeks of removal of the cast, the patient had difficulty in exercising.Eight weeks after surgery, the blood flow at the broken end was reduced and collagen fibrous hyperplasia was observed.Twelve weeks after surgery, the patient entered the rapid repair stage, and the blood flow signal of the patient′s Achilles tendon basically recovered, with good vascular distribution. The systolic blood flow velocity was close to that before the Achilles tendon injury, and there was no obvious blood flow signal at this time.

Conclusion

High-frequency ultrasound can bu used to diagnose patients with Achilles tendon rupture, which can show the rupture condition and the condition under passive motion. It is economical, fast and accurate.

Key words: High frequency ultrasound, Achilles tendon rupture, Passive motion state
