Diagnostic value of color Doppler ultrasound for gastric stromal tumor

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the value of color Doppler ultrasound in the diagnosis of gastric stromal tumor.

Methods

In this study, 143 patients with surgically pathologically confirmed gastrointestinal stromal tumors in Tangshan People′s Hospital from January 2021 to February 2023 were prospectively selected as the study objects, among which 20 patients did not meet the inclusion criteria, 28 patients did not want to participate in the study, 9 patients dropped out, and finally 143 patients were included as the study objects.They were divided into benign gastric stromal tumor group(n=87)and malignant gastric stromal tumor group(n=56). Color Doppler ultrasound was performed in both groups, and the diagnostic accuracy of color Doppler ultrasound for gastric stromal tumor was analyzed using pathological findings as the gold standard, and the mass diameter, shape, boundary, internal echo, abdominal lymph node enlargement, peak systolic blood flow velocity within the mass, resistance index of blood flow, and CDFI blood flow grading were compared between the two groups.

Results

There was no significant difference between the accuracy of color Doppler ultrasonography and pathological findings(P>0.05). The ultrasonic characteristics of benign gastric stromal tumor showed that mass diameter≥5 cm, irregular shape, ill-defined border, uneven internal echoand enlarged abdominal lymph nodes were less frequent than those of malignant gastric stromal tumor(P<0.001). The peak systolic blood flow velocity and resistance index of blood flow within the masses of benign gastric stromal tumor were smaller than those of malignant gastric stromal tumor, and the CDFI blood flow grading within the masses of benign gastric stromal tumor was lower than that of malignant gastric stromal tumor(P<0.001).

Conclusion

Color Doppler ultrasound has higher values in the diagnosis of gastric stromal tumor and can provide reference for physicians to develop surgical plans.
