Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the current medication compliance, medication attitude and influencing factors in children with diarrhea to provide more reference for improving the medication compliance and medication attitude of such children.

Methods

A total of 790 guardians of children with diarrhea who received medicine from the pharmacy of Guiyang Maternal and Child Health Hospital were investigated on home medication use, medication compliance and medication attitude were analyzed in the period from January 2023 to March 2023, and the independent influencing factors of medication compliance and medication attitude of children with diarrhea were evaluated by univariate and multivariate methods.

Results

The researchers distributed questionnaires to 790 guardians of children with diarrhea, and finally recovered 772 questionnaires, excluding 3 invalid questionnaires, and finally recovered 769 questionnaires. According to medication compliance, there were 250 complete compliance cases, 450 partial compliance cases and 72 non-compliance cases. According to the medication attitude, 243 cases were excellent, 307 cases were good, 126 cases passed and 85 cases failed. The results of univariate analysis showed that the age of children, whether the child was the only child, the occupation of parents, drug dosage form and intervention measures may be related to the medication compliance of children with diarrhea (P<0.05). The age of children, occupation of parents, education level of parents and dosage form of drug may be related to medication attitude of children with diarrhea (P<0.05). Logistic regression model multivariate analysis results showed that the age of children, whether the child was the only child, parental occupation, drug dosage form and intervention measures were independent influencing factors for medication compliance of children with diarrhea (P<0.05). The age of children, occupation of parents, education level of parents and dosage form of drug were independent factors influencing the medication attitude of children with diarrhea (P<0.05).

Conclusion

The medication compliance of children with diarrhea is poor, and the medication attitude needs to be further improved. The age of the children, whether the child is the only child, occupation of parents, dosage form of drug and intervention measures can directly affect the medication compliance of the children with diarrhea. The attitude towards medication of children with diarrhea is related to the age of children and occupation of parents.
