Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effect of prophylactic use of antibiotics in the treatment of liver cirrhosis complicated with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage.

Methods

A total of 86 patients with liver cirrhosis complicated with upper gastrointestinal bleeding from February 2015 to January 2016 at our hospital were selected. All patients were randomly divided into observation group(45 cases)and control group(41 cases). The patients in control group were not given antibiotic treatment, and the patients in observation group were given prophylactic antibiotic treatment on the basis of conventional treatment. The average hospitalization time, hemostasis time and infection rate of the two groups were observed and monitored.

Results

The hospitalized time of observation group was(12.9+ 5.3)d, significantly shorter than that of control group(15.1+ 4.3)d, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The hemostasis time of observation group was(21.2+ 10.3)d, significantly shorter than that of control group(26.4+ 16.9)d, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The hospital infection rate of observation group was 13.2%(2/45), significantly lower than that of control group(21.8%, 9/41), and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).

Conclusion

The preventive use of antibiotics in patients with cirrhosis complicated with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage can effectively shorten the bleeding time, reduce hospitalization time and hospital infection rate, reduce the economic burden of patients, and the clinical effect is significant, worth clinical promotion.
