Analysis of endoscopic characteristics of 223 patients with isolated esophageal venous tumor

Objective

To analyze the clinical endoscopic characteristics of 223 patients with isolated esophageal venous tumor diagnosed by endoscopy, so as to deepen the endoscopic doctors′ understanding of the disease and reduce misdiagnosis of the disease.

Methods

The isolated esophageal venous tumors diagnosed by gastroscopy in Digestive Endoscopy Center of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region People′s Hospital from June 2013 to January 2018 were analyzed.

Results

During this period, a total of 48 861 cases were diagnosed by gastroscopy, including 223 cases of isolated esophageal venous tumors, with a detection rate of 0.46%, and 5 cases received esophageal venous tumor sclerotherapy under endoscopy due to bleeding.

Conclusion

Isolated esophageal venous tumor is a benign lesion with slow growth rate and no special treatment. In case of bleeding, endoscopic injection of lauryl alcohol sclerotherapy is a feasible and effective method.
