Research progress of eccDNA and its application prospect in clinical detection

Abstract:

Extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) is a kind of circular DNA derived from chromosomes. It has attracted extensive attention because of its important role in tumorigenesis, heterogeneity and drug resistance. Linear circulating free DNA (cfDNA) has been widely studied and has become a new molecular marker for noninvasive diagnosis and research of a variety of diseases. Compared with linear extrachromosomal DNA, eccDNA is more suitable for clinical diagnosis for the advantages of rich in gene information and high stability. With the rapid development of detection technology, increasing studies show that eccDNA not only widely exists in human tissues and organs, but also has obvious tissue specificity and physiological and pathological specificity. Recent studies on eccDNA in gastrointestinal tumors show that eccDNA has a good prospect as a clinical detection marker of gastrointestinal tumors.
