Abstract:

As one of the cholesterol oxidation products, 27-hydroxycholesterol level is rich in the systemic circulation and its biologically actives are complex.Besides estrogen receptor(ER)regulator activity, it can also participate in the regulation of cholesterol metabolism through non-liver X receptor(LXR)and LXR pathways, thus affect the proliferation and apoptosis process of tumor cells. In addition, 27-hydroxycholesterol can affect the tumor microenvironment and tumor metastasis by regulating the function of immune cells and the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines. However, there are few studies on its effect and mechanism in gastrointestinal tumors at present. This review, combined with previous studies on other types of tumors, provides a new reference for the study on the relationship between 27-hydroxycholesterol and gastrointestinal tumors.

Key words: Gastrointestinal tumor, 27-hydroxycholesterol, Cholesterol
